I recently returned from 2 shows in Papua New Guinea as part of Operation Open Heart and the Orchid Society to a huge reception.
Two sold out events where much needed money was raised for the children of PNG. On arrival I was greeted at the airport by a traditional tribal ceremony and the Governor of Port Moresby which was a fantastic way to start the trip.
On Thursday night I had the pleasure of dinner with the board of Operation Open Heart team who are amazing people in their own right and join together for this worthy cause. On Friday night I had the privilege of performing at Parliament House for a fundraiser and on Saturday night at Lamana Hotel, in all over 100,000 Kina was raised.
During the trip I visited the local Port Morseby Hospital where the operations take place and I was never more humbled in my life. You’ve got communities from outer regions who are scarred and cautious at the same time wanting and appreciating as much help as possible.
I also visited the village of Vabukori who gave me the most warm welcome with the Manubada String Band and the young children honouring their local tribe with dance and ceremony. I really cannot begin to tell you how much of amazing trip this was and want to return to PNG.
At present my team are working on a full PNG tour for late September/October and I just can’t wait”,
Love Deni.
